May 2nd: Dubrovnik in Depth

After a great breakfast, complete with stunning views over the Adriatic, we gathered this morning for the short ride to Dubrovnik's Pile Gate where we met our wonderful local guide Roberto for a fascinating city tour.
As well as the famous city walls, Pile Gate, the main street of Stradun, etc we also learned about life in Dubrovnik for a local, the pros & cons of the tourist industry here today, & even met 'Mama'!
The rest of the day was free to explore at leisure, with optional bus transfers to the hotel & back to the Old Town in the evening.  Everyone took advantage of their 'Dubrovnik Card', allowing them to climb atop the city walls & make the circular walk for fantastic views over the Old Town, up to Mount Srd, across to the Fort of St. Lawrence, & out to sea & Lokum Island.  Some spent their afternoon shopping whilst others strolled or even rode the cable car to the top of Mount Srd.
